On behalf of our entire team at Drs. Reed & Sahlaney Orthodontics, we would like to thank all of our patients and families for their understanding, compassion and confidence during these unprecedented circumstances. The well-being and safety of our patients has always been foremost for us and that principle guides us as we move into a gradual reopening of our offices starting Monday, May 18. This gradual reopening will allow us to do many of our typical orthodontic appointments but not all. Rest assured that we will work diligently to get everyone seen in a timely and safe fashion.
Although we have always strictly followed the universal safety precautions recommended by the CDC and the American Dental Association, the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated several changes to our protocols for appointments.
We will be sending Wellness Screening Forms via text &/or email prior to your appointment. It must be filled out and submitted or we will need to reschedule your appointment. We are also asking patients to brush thoroughly prior to the appointment as the brushing stations will be closed.
When you arrive at your appointment, please park and text the patient's name to:
- 814-402-8283 if you are a patient in the Altoona office.
- 814-402-8801 if you are a patient in the Huntingdon office.
- 814-402-8410 if you are a patient in the Bedford office.
Please wait in your vehicle until we text that we are ready for your appointment at which time an assistant will meet the patient at the entrance and perform a quick temperature scan before proceeding directly to the treatment area. (Note: anyone with a temp of >100.4 will not be admitted)
Preferably, only the patient will enter the office area. If an adult needs to accompany the patient we request that only one person enter the waiting area with the patient. Should you have questions regarding your child's treatment please message us and the doctor will call you.
We will schedule the patient's next appointment on their way out of the office. If that appointment does not suit, please call and reschedule.
We will be observing the social distancing recommendations in the treatment area and there will be greater than 6 feet between treatment chairs. We are also limiting the number of people in any room at a given time.We will also be wearing an increased amount of personal protection equipment (PPE) that you typically haven't seen in an orthodontic setting.
The sum of all these new protocols may temporarily at times lead to longer wait times and we ask for your patience and understanding as we protect your safety and work together to achieve your new smile!
